To remain the leader in the self-employed and VSE/SME segment, Qonto wanted to enrich its application with an essential business component: managing quotes and invoices. This feature was key to:
- increase the value generated per user,
- establish itself as a complete BFM platform,
- compete with all-in-one players like Pennylane or Axonaut.
The ambition was clear: Launch an MVP in just six weeks, while maintaining Qonto quality and performance standards.

The challenges:
- Extreme pace : deliver a complete MVP in 6 weeks, with an evolving scope and impeccable quality (<3 QA returns per feature).
- Product complexity : create a robust module (invoicing, credit notes, PDF generation, email...) without degrading the existing user experience.
- Integration into the Qonto app : ensure a perfect fusion with the processes already in production.
- Tight target cost : respect a demanding product envelope while delivering a scalable solution.
Our approach
We have put together a compact team (1 Project Director, 1 Tech Lead, 3 devs) working in a draft flow, with rigorous management through quality and speed.
Design-to-cost to go fast without sacrificing scope
We structured the MVP around the functionalities generating the greatest business impact (invoice creation, credit notes, preview, email sending), by limiting marginal cases.
Integration-first
By developing APIs and components designed for the Qonto app, we achieved a smooth integration and an interface that was perceived as “native”.
Right-first-time execution
Thanks to a rigorous PCDA process and a learning organization, 95% of the functionalities were validated without significant back-and-forth.
